Reading these reviews is a tale of two garages. The reason is because there is one guy, the mot tester, I think he's name's Jason (J.Sharp), who is a real diamond, hard working, super helpful, good as gold. But... There is another guy (Welsh? accent), usually on the front desk, who just wants to rip your wallet out through your Harris. Last time I took an old van there the Welsh dude told me he would pass it only if I bought his £20+ bottle of snake oil. I'd already paid for the mot so was snookered. It still didn't pass so I asked for a refund on the snake oil, he then went away and declared that it had passed. If Halfords wants to get 5 star reviews it needs to send the Welsh guy off to customer service training. You need to identify your customers. Some have plenty of money for unnecessary work to be done, but if someone walks in with a 20 year old car, there's no point in even trying to flog them £2k of work.

Booked in for 4 tyres and 4 wheel alignment. George the manager was friendly and knowledgeable. All work completed quickly. Very happy. Would recommend and will be back.

Gentleman at reception was very welcoming and presented as trustworthy. He made reasonable suggestions and demonstrated great knowledge of my car model. I was made to feel like I was part of the process and not just informed of how much I have to pay to fix my car. My car felt like one the drive home. The Klarna payment option is a fantastic idea and very much appreciated. I will definitely go there again for all my future car needs.

Quite refreshing compared to some garage experiences where you are met with very little interaction and a level of arrogance. Here it was pleasant and friendly and I was told exactly what to expect. Despite the fact my car actually failed the MOT, I came out feeling happy that I and my car had been treated well and fairly. The guy who did the test personally came out to explain the issue and had the time to have a conversation with me about my car. I didn't get the the hard sell to repair. I have had the car repaired and I'm returning next week for a retest. Top marks to the guys here. 👍 👍

The Halfords workshop carried out an MOT test on our family car. They failed the car after choosing not to perform an exhaust emissions test, saying that the engine was knocking. I explained to the branch manager, Sam, that the knocking has been present for more than 40,000 miles. The manager didn’t ask if I was happy for them to proceed with the emissions test. My response would have been yes and I would have removed them from having any responsibility if the engine failed. They gave minor faults of a seatbelt webbing being frayed and the brake fluid reservoir been below minimum. Both of these faults were inaccurate. Although very polite their support for me as a customer has been so poor that this first visit by our family to a Halfords’ workshop will never be repeated. Halfords will not have the chance to take £40 from us in this way again. To add insult to injury we had the car tested at an established workshop the following week at an established workshop in Cambridge and the car passed the MOT without any difficulties.
